Rocio Gallego was born and raised in Huelva, a town situated in the southwest of Spain. She likes listening to music, reading books, especially those written by Stephen King, and watching football matches. Travelling to discover new different places is other of her hobbies that she tries to do every time she has de possibility.
Rocio Gallego got her Bachelor in Chemistry at the University of Huelva in 2010. Then she did a Master in Chemical Science and Technology in 2011 and a Master in Product Formulation and Technology in 2012. She completed her studies with a PhD Thesis in 2015 at the Chemical Engineering department of the University of Huelva that was supervised by Dr. Jose Maria Franco and Dr. Jesus Fernandez. In her PhD Thesis biodegradable oleogels based on castor oil and NCO-functionalized natural polymers, such as cellulose and some of its derivatives, chitin and chitosan and lignocellulosic pulps, were produced and characterized, using IR spectroscopy, NMR and thermogravimetric analysis, and their properties as lubricant were tested. Nowadays, she is working in the Brussels Innovation Center of P&G as a Post-Doctoral Marie Curie fellow being part of the ISSFLOW project.
