Is a Research Fellow of Strategic Innovation & Technology Department in Fabric & Home Care at Procter & Gamble and is ISSFLOW coordinator. He obtained a PhD degree from the University of Leuven (Belgium) and was a postdoc at the University of Arizona and the Max Planck Institute. At P&G, he developed expertise in process and detergent chemistry, perfume technology, enzyme development, large scale production, controlled release and delivery. He has applied for over 100 patents for P&G or with suppliers, and has published over 50 scientific papers. Mr. Smets holds various awards and grants in the field of new perfume development, modelling techniques and enzyme technology, and he has introduced 10 new technologies in detergent products. Mr. Smets has previous experience in managing large research projects: BIOSEAL (MCA EST FP6) and CAP-IT! (MSCA IAPP FP7).
